Rick and his wife moved to Colorado in 1985 and joined the Inspiration community in 2018.  On the district side, Rick has been an active observer of Board and other actions and a self-appointed change agent fostering attention to water conservation and installation of smart irrigation controller technology.  On the Hilltop side, he serves as secretary on the Governing Documents Committee (through fall 2022) and is a co-leader and founder of the large and popular Wine Club, now in its third year of overseeing small group tastings.

Rick’s formal education includes graduate degrees in knowledge management and public administration.  He has worked in a number of academic health sciences institutions and retired from the University of Colorado after serving as library director, academic policy developer, and construction coordinator for several new buildings on the Anschutz Medical Campus.  He also coordinated the implementation of the first access to databases and full-text books and journals across the four-campus CU system.  He has served as a strategic planning consultant to the University of Denver and other institutions.  Coming from a service-driven background, Rick is committed to listening to user/resident needs and designing responsive solutions.

Personal Stuff

Rick and his wife pursue frequent international travel to far-flung and sometimes remote locations.  In July of 2022 they’ll be in Botswana and South Africa after two years of postponement and rebookings.  Rick continues a 17 year commitment to yoga, an important element of his weekly schedule, and has participated in retreats in Costa Rica, Tuscany and Bali.
