Doug and his wife, Susan, moved to Colorado in 2020 to be closer to family and the mountains. He grew up in a military (Navy) family and lived all over the country. Doug and Susan have three children and three grandchildren. He enjoys hiking, golf, skiing and photography. Travel takes up much of the family’s spare time. They have visited 42 national parks, 48 states and Doug has visited 17 countries.
He is a retired Architect and a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. As one of the partners of the global design firm NBBJ, he was responsible for the healthcare and higher education markets and in leading Integrated Design and Delivery efforts. He has experience in all aspects of architecture and planning (including community planning) and has worked with governmental and community organizations in many different settings. He brings experience working around the world and managing large complex projects and organizations.

– The Nature Conservancy in Ohio Board Finance Liaison, Legacy Ambassador

– The Columbus Center for Architecture & Design
– The Builders Exchange of Central Ohio
In his role with the Nature Conservancy, Doug worked with local, regional, and national elected officials to present green infrastructure solutions to replace traditional infrastructure. He is excited to serve on the Inspiration Metro Board to help achieve community goals and to make Inspiration a model of environmental and sustainable community solutions.
Doug has a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Architecture from Virginia Tech and has lectured at The Ohio State University, Virginia Tech, Tulane University and at various national conventions and conferences.
